A Short Introduction

Hello all. My name is Kassidy, and I’m no stranger to blogging. I am also the mind behind The Anti-Jingo, and I run a personal blog as well. I decided I wanted to start a new blog dedicated solely to keeping tabs on what national governments are doing to either help or hinder the cause of environmentalists because it’s something I view as very important. Without some sort of global consensus, humanity will continue to pollute the planet and devastate all living things-including ourselves-in the process.

I am going to try to focus on the good and the bad in this blog, but I often fear that the bad will outweigh the good. For example, my first post following this will be about the US House of Representatives shfiting $16 billion towards renewable. Sounds great, right? Except that President Bush has promised to veto it. See what I mean?

Let me give you a word or two about my sources, just so you know where my information comes from. My main sources are the environmental sections of Reuters and The Guardian. I’ll also frequent the BBC, Washington Post, and New York times, to name a few others. I try to keep my sources limited to news organizations, but if a fellow blogger finds a story that I missed, I will not hesitate to link to them and expand on what they have written. I’ll be putting up a link list of my main sources soon.

Well, that’s probably about it. I don’t give out too much information on myself because I’m a teacher, and I do not want my students to listen to what I have to write simply because I’m their teacher. Should they find this link, they will never know it’s me. For example, Kassidy is not my real name. If I wasn’t so fond of my actual name, I’d consider changing it. I am in my 20s and living in New Jersey, US. Politically, I am very liberal (in the American sense). I believe (obviously) in environmentalism, a living wage, universal education and healthcare, and a strong government commitment in post-secondary education, among other things. I actively write to my Congress-people in support of legislation I favor and against legislation I oppose. I’d actively write to the White House if I thought anyone there would actually read it.
